Prismatic
A modular multi-channel LED system for photobiology experiments, built as both research infrastructure and an open technical platform.
Prismatic was a multi-channel LED system designed for photobiology research where precision mattered more than generic grow-light output.
The system was used to support controlled experiments around organogenesis, regeneration, and media or spectral optimization. It also became a vehicle for open-source hardware and software work around custom lighting infrastructure.
Core pieces
- A Wi-Fi programmable scheduling interface
- Modular LED driver and array hardware
- Experimental workflows oriented around replicated conditions
- Tight control over spectra for plant tissue culture work
Build details
- Embedded firmware in C and C++
- HTML and JavaScript control interfaces on microcontroller hardware
- Circuit and PCB design for a multi-channel lighting stack
- DOE-oriented experimental framing around CCRD and response surfaces
